Soft Tissue Therapy in St. Charles

Stiff neck, tight lower back, or sciatica making daily life hard? You’re not alone. Soft tissue therapy is hands-on care for muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia to reduce pain and improve motion.

At Better Movement Health & Wellness, Dr. Timothy Villaverde blends targeted soft-tissue work with gentle chiropractic for faster, longer-lasting relief.

If you’re very tender, he keeps care gentle and may delay an adjustment until your body is ready.

What to Expect and the Techniques We Use

Visits often include trigger point release and a brief massage-gun warm-up or cool-down to relax sore areas. IASTM (tool-assisted “muscle stripping”) glides across tissue to address adhesions and stubborn tightness. Cupping may be added on a case-by-case basis to boost blood flow; marks may appear and usually fade within a week. Heat or ice therapy is chosen based on your stage of pain and is often paired with TENS/stim, low-voltage pads that gently contract muscles to ease discomfort. We screen for contraindications before care begins.

Conditions This Therapy Can Help With

  • Sciatica and low back tightness
  • Low, mid, and upper back pain
  • Neck pain and cervical radicular pain
  • Headaches and desk-related tension
  • Leg and calf pain; plantar fasciitis
  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow

Safety-First Care with a Clear Plan

No special prep is needed; this modality suits desk workers, truck drivers, athletes, and anyone with stress-related tightness. Your scheduled time usually includes soft-tissue work and an adjustment, if appropriate, and you can opt out of either. Most plans start with two to three visits per week for the first two to four weeks, then taper with progress, plus simple home stretches or exercises. Temporary soreness is possible; IASTM and cupping may cause redness or bruising that clears in about a week. We review safety exclusions for TENS/stim (pregnancy, pacemaker, cancer, DVT, uncontrolled seizures) and cupping (blood thinners, oil sensitivity). Please call the practice if soreness doesn’t improve within a couple of days.
